Welcome to IPPA
We are an organization dedicated to raising the
standard of Professional Photography in the Intermountain West. Since it’s
inception in 1954, we have a long history of sharing knowledge with fellow
photographers and as it says in our Code of Ethics, encouraging them
individually and collectively to achieve the highest standards of quality
and service. When we share we grow. It may seem counterintuitive, but it’s
true. Wayne Dyer said: “Abundance is not something we acquire, it’s
something we tune into. There’s no scarcity of opportunity to make a living
at what you love. There is only a scarcity of resolve to make it happen.”
I was sitting in a Quarterly Seminar when one of the
participants suggested a book called The E Myth. It’s out of print so I
had to get a used copy on the Internet, but it’s the best business book I’ve
ever read! The scope of learning in IPPA goes far beyond a scheduled speaker,
and it transcends specific activities. The most fertile learning fields I’ve
experienced have been visiting with fellow photographers. We’re all navigating
the same terrain, and unlike most other professions, the boxing gloves seldom
make an appearance. I wish I could learn more quickly, but usually I need to
ask a time or two. ‘What was he saying?’ ‘What did she mean?’ We are in this
organization to tutor each other and thereby succeed!
Aristotle said: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence
then is not an action, but a habit.” Isaiah 1:18 “Come… let’s reason
together…” and lift each of us to a level a bit higher than we could do on our
own.
See you at the next event!
