PPA Master of Photography DegreeThe Master of Photography Degree recognizes individuals who have proven their ability to create high-quality photographic images over an extended period of time, completed advanced education through PPA, and served the profession. While a PPA degree doesn’t imply that the photographer has completed a university curriculum, it does represent that the standards of the oldest and largest professional photography organization have been met. In addition to recognition within the profession, a PPA degree can be used as a tool to tell the public (and potential clients) of your outstanding accomplishments. In fact, several photographers have told me that their PPA degrees helped justify and explain why their work is more expensive than a part-timer’s work. How does one receive a PPA Degree? It’s all about earning merits. There are several different types of merits…all earned in various ways. Exhibition Merits, for example, are earned through PPA competitions where your work is judged against a standard…not against other photographs. A Master of Photography Degree requires 13 Exhibition Merits and 12 other merits (such as Service Merits), for a total of 25. For complete information about how PPA’s Merit & Degree program operates, visit the Merit & Degree section at www.ppa.com; or simply follow this link: http://www.ppa.com/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=168. How many merits do you have? How close are you to a PPA degree? It’s easy to find out. Just select Merit Record Report in the Members Only section of www.ppa.com (or go to http://www.ppa.com/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=229). You’ll need your PPA ID number to get your report. Perfecting your skills, attracting more clients and gaining the recognition you deserve… just a few of the things your PPA membership and degrees do for you. Sincerely, |
